Foursite Film Institute

Press Release - November 25, 2007

For Immediate Release

OGDEN, UT —The Foursite Film Institute is opening its doors to Ogden City with big dreams for a bright and ambitious future planned for a community that celebrates independent film produced in good taste. To celebrate its new presence in downtown Ogden, Foursite will be having an open house as part of Ogden City Art’s First Friday Art Stroll.

Since March 2003, downtown Ogden has witnessed the talent of local and international artists at the annual Foursite Film Festival.  Founded by Scott C. Halford, the Festival hosts an average of 50 filmmakers each year who showcase their independent films.  This year, thanks to its success, the Festival is reaching out to the community as a program of the Foursite Film Institute.

The Institute’s facilities on 25th Street, Ogden, provide local filmmakers with the opportunity to make and produce their own films. Shooting, editing and sound equipment is available to filmmakers to produce their films into presentable pieces of work.  Movies that have been presented at former festivals are also available in the Institute’s on-site archives for the public to view.

Beyond working with current filmmakers, the Institute has also established outreach programs with high schools and universities. A summer workshop will be available to high school students. Participants will learn the many aspects of filmmaking, including pre-production, production and post-production.  University students will be able to work in interdisciplinary projects, which will allow students to write, design, create and produce a professional-quality film.

Through combined efforts from Weber State University and the Institute, a group of 11 students are currently producing a dance for film project, which will premiere at the Foursite Film Festival, March 5-8, 2008.  This collaboration not only helps students create their films, which in most cases they would not be able to produce, but helps them promote, produce, exhibit and distribute their work.

The Foursite Film Institute is establishing its place in Ogden’s Art District.  An open house will be held December 7, 2007, 7 pm to 9 pm at the Foursite Film Institute office, 260-B 25th Street, Ogden. The open house will provide an overview of Foursite’s vision, its facilities, as well as offer drawings and opportunities to become a member of the Foursite Film Institute.
